Best Night of 2010 - by far

It started just like any other Saturday, went off to morning meeting at the office. Though the meeting took longer than it should have. But I had something to look forward to - Pedicure!
Been a month since I last had a pedicure, so I really enjoyed myself and pampered with a foot mask and nourishing nails treatment. It is my form of relaxation.

After that little session, I headed to meet the boyfriend. Upon arrival, both lifts at the apartment isn't working for some stupid reasons! I got agitated as there were people waiting for the lift too!
Rang the boyfriend and told him that I am going home because the lift wasn't working and it is getting on my nerves!
He was being sweet. Took the lift and came down to let me in!! (Brownie points) When I got into the apartment, he said:' I got something for you'. Out came a pretty bouquet of red roses!!
If you have known me before, the boyfriend has said that he would not buy flowers for me as he sees it as a waste of money. Why? They die after awhile. Sadly, I love flowers (just not sunflowers). So upon hearing him say that, I was like that's it - I must have met the ultimately wrong boyfriend. BUT Christmas came and I got a very lovely bracelet from him. (More Brownie Points).

Yesterday, he made beef guolash - his family recipe. Unfortunately a little slip of hand made it super duper spicy and not really suitable for my consumption. Luckily, he had some ingredients to help make it better. Tomatoes, potatos, onions and milk did the trick. We manage to have dinner after all.

My favourite part of the evening - Clarke Quay. This was the first time (and hopefully not the last time) the boyfriend and I went out for some drinks and booty shaking! Though he was a little grumpy because he did not get to sleep in the afternoon (for whatever reasons I forgot). We passed through Le Noir, Crazy Elephant, China One, Azzurca and lastly at Yellow Jello!

I had a blast at China One - first time there!! Band was good. Some decent looking boys too! The boyfriend kinda played bartender for the night. Parking himself there and watching me from afar while I scare people with my killer dance moves!! LOL.. to be frank. I have no idea what happened but people just moved away from me. :(

*sigh* flowers, dinner and a night out in town, so perfect! Its such a wonderful evening! I mad love it!

My first to go out with a boyfriend to clubs, just the two of us. My first time to have someone taller than I am, dancing with me to cheesy Jason Mraz - I'm Yours. BUT at least I had someone to dance with! (Even more Brownie Points!!)

If only you can see how widely I'm grinning now. I'm a very happy girl.

Madness!!

I am guilty of not writing regularly. Working hours hasn't been quite the norm but from next week I will be back on track of sanity and ALSO - a trip to KL at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre!!

Definitely will put up photos of the place/the convention and also the food that I maybe able to taste during that short 1.5 day?
Chinese New Year is also round the corner, this year, I doubt I would be making pineapple tarts this year. No spare time!

Let's see what can I whip up this weekend and I shall post some photos! In the meantime, TGIF!!!

Chill people.

Talk to The Hand

Most recently, I have been working at fund raising for the Singapore Cancer Society so having been to Road Shows and generally on the streets asking for kind hearted people to donate to this charity.

I was alarmed to such reactions from people in Singapore. I could not comprehend this behaviour. How hard is it telling someone that you are not interested WITH a smile?
These are some examples that I have came across. (Now don't laugh because I know some of you do such a thing!)

Example Number 1
:
Me: Hello, Have you heard of Singapore Cancer Society?
Reaction: Hand waving in my face.
Conclusion: WTF? I don't bite! And I assume that they are HUGE Hello Kitty fans! :) You know why? Because Hello Kitty has no mouth and can't speak. :) Waving a hand in my face = Not able to speak ;)

Example Number 2
:
Me: Hello, Good Evening, helping Singapore Cancer Society?
Reaction: Walks pass me staring straight ahead.
Conclusion: I stand at 1.8m tall. Easily sees the head of 1/2 the Singaporeans. Tell me how can I be THAT transparent?

Example Number 3
(SUPER classic):
Me: Hello, Good Afternoon, Have you heard of SIngapore Cancer Society?
Reaction: Walks around me with head bending down and keep shaking their head!!
Conclusion: I am there big and tall but yet, bending your head down like an Ostrich? Hmmm.. that don't quite add up.

You see, over the past few weeks working on the streets with the Team has exposed me even more to the people in Singapore. :) I'm not saying that I'm a snoob. But at least I have the basic manners/courtesy to tell the other party that I am not interested and always say Thank You.

Sarcastic remark or any form of verbal abuse is not appreciated (Trust me, everyone out there is doing a job and is a child of a person. He or She deserves the respect of every human being on Planet Earth!)
So dear readers, please do be a little kinder to anyone who has to brave the hot sun/wet weather and crap manners people they have to face everyday on the street. They deserve to be treated like a person NOT some transparent ornament on the street.

I am still hoping that one day, Singaporeans will learn to be charitable. Forget about TV performances, its everyday donations to the less fortunate that's making an impact to their lifes!!

I leave you with this: It's not what you can or cannot But It's what you want or not.

Lust and Love

Someone wrote this on Facebook and I have to admit that I agree with it.
Lust is Easy. Love is Hard. Like is Important.

Lusting for someone is easy. Lust can also be easily satisfied. Lust is something without any commitment attached. I suppose that's where affairs starts. Human beings are made as such that responsibility is the last thing they would want to have. As this paragraph ends, it also shows that lust is short lived.

Now, loving someone. I flunk this department with flying colours. When I love someone, I give him my all, 200% if not and never asking anything in return. :) I must be the stupidest person living to be doing such a thing. As said, love is blind and in contrary, how can there be love at first sight? Ponder on that!

I love the idea of being in a match make marriage. For I do not believe that a person should fall in love and then get married. Cynical you might say but think about this for a second, in any motivational talk you have ever attended don't they always tell you this: Picture your goal and work towards it?

I feel that in an arranged marriage, it is the same thing. You get to your goal first and then work it out! In India, where fixed marriage is a common thing and guess what? They have the lowest divorce rate in the world! Tell me now, how did it work?? Because you know you're in the marriage for life, regardless what happens you have to work it out. THAT'S how everything in the world should work! Looking for solutions and not pushing the blame to everyone around you.
Its not a tai-chi demostration.

Loving someone isn't easy but with communication and compromising with each other. Things will definitely work out. A person's limitation to everything in life is only so much. No two thumbs are alike. So what I can do for the love of my life, isn't something that the next person in line would do at all.

Like is Important. ;)If you don't like the person a wee bit. There's no possibility that it can even progress to anything more than aquaintance. :) I can love more than one person but I will only be willing to devote my time/effort to one who deserves it best.

I have to like you even to be friends with you. :) I may be an arsehole at times but I guarantee you, I am like the craziest yet sane person at the same time. If that makes any cow sense! :)

You lust for me then love me and wants me to like you!! I'm shameless!

Sites I love

There are 2 sites that I have to read.

The first one that I read daily because it is filled with some most unimaginable things that actually happen to someone around the world.

It seems unrealistic at times but then again, who knows if it did happen at all. I leave it to you to decide. So here it is:
FML

So the second one that I read religiously every weekend was introduced to me by a friend sometime July in 2009 when I was down with flu and stucked home all week.

It was a site for people to post their secrets or stuff that they are not sure who to tell it to but would have to somehow let it out.

Some information posted on the site were inspiring while others were a little heart wrenching. This idea was such a massive hit that books containing these secrets are actually published into books.
Its really amazing to read it (for me) in a way its like chicken soup for the soul. So here it is: PostSecrets

Then there's another that I really liked reading its the
Susan Miller Astrology Site. A monthly forecast for all the Star Signs. Well you may think that it might not be true or I shouldn't be so superstitious about stuff like that. BUT hey, I didn't or wasn't so into it UNTIL when something that actually happened to me exactly how she wrote in her prediction. Ever since then, I have been reading her prediction of my Star Sign with a pinch of salt.
Well now that I have shared with you what I enjoy reading online, I hope you too will find them interesting.

Time flies, we are now in the mid of January!! How scary is that. I hope everyone has been keeping with their resolution!!

Beef Lasagne and A Movie Review

First up - Beef Lasange!!

A friend of mine posted on Facebook one day that she ordered lasagne from an italian eatery for dinner. That gave me an idea- since I have not messed up the kitchen in awhile.

Made 3 trays - I am greedy. :) The Bf and I shared 1 tray and the remaining were freezed for later consumption.

The beef lasagne before its baked... Look at all the sinful cheese spread with love!!

And after having it baked in the oven for 30 minutes at 180 degree celius... this is how it turned out!

Verdict - Yummilicious!! Home made Lasagne always taste Oh-so-Good!

Movie Review - Invictus

My colleague rang me up and asked if I wanted to join them for a movie before we head down to work. Thinking that it would be a relaxed day, I agreed.

Morgan Freeman plays the character of Nelson Mandela - President of South Africa, while Matt Damon plays Francois Pienaar - Captain of the South African Rugby Team. Both the characters are strong and expressions and accent were impressive!

I loved Freeman's character. It was as though Freeman is Mandela!! Kudos to Clint Eastwood for an excellent piece of work!

Matt Damon has done well too on the accent of the South African! I suppose its not hard if you put your mind to perfecting the role you are paid tens of thousands for is it?

Uniting a country through sport was one way that Mandela done in the '95 Rugby World Cup. The movie showcase the preservence of Mandela and also how a great leader should be.

This movie explained to me that to be a good leader, not only leading by example is enough. You have to walk the talk and prove that nothing is impossible if you set your heart and mind to it.

There was a poem written by William Ernest Henley titled Invictus. The words to the poem were written beautifully that I have to share it with you.

So here it is:

Out of the night that covers me
Black as the pit from pole to pole
I thank the gods for what may be
For my unconquerable soul

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced or cried aloud
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody but unbowed

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the horror of the shade
And yet the menance of they years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid

It matters not how strait the gate
How charged with punishment the scroll
I am the master of my fate
I am the captain of my soul.

A beautiful poem with such strong inspirations. I especially felt with this: I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul.

It is you who can take control of what you want in life. No one can tell you what are the right choices to make. If you have already set a goal - work towards it. Negative thoughts and toxic poison of "they say" will not only hinder your journey towards your goal BUT may even derail you from the tracks of achieving your destination.

I now feel like a wise old sage!! LOL!! But the movie did set me thinking and I am going to watch it again. This time I'm going to watch it with a pen and notebook! There are some words and quotes in the movie that I feel it worth taken note of.

I strongly encourage you go to watch this movie this weekend and get inspired. You will (hopefully) be all charged up for the week ahead of you!!

Computer Tummy

I must be on a weird sighting week!! Look what I saw on a advertisement space at East Point Mall - Simei.

Computer Tummy !!! What on earth is that? Hahah .... Apparently, it is a direct translation from its mandarin - Computerized Slimming. Isn't it hideous? Computer Tummy?!!

I posted this on my Facebook - Friends suggested that Computer Tummy could actually mean that someone is carrying a tummy the size of a computer!! One even said, beer belly resembles the description.

Oh well, whatever you might think it could or might be, I hope you smiled a little when you saw the picture.

Spreading the Word!

This was what I saw when I was leaving the flat for work on Monday (11th January 2010).

A notice was plastered to the wall of the HDB void deck in my neighbourhood. I found it innovative and hilarious at the same time. Don't get me wrong, I felt that the person was doing her part to inform the residents to be careful of their shoes.

You may think it might not mean anything, just imagine if one day you walk out of the door of your most comfy pair of shoes has been nicked! Won't you be upset too? May not be an expensive pair but comfy shoes for ladies are hard to come by. There's a saying beauty comes with a price - that's the pair of sexy high heels that kills your feet by the end of the day! =)

Here's the poster stucked to the wall with heaps of masking tape and an ACTUAL shoe !! Don't you think it is quite unbelievable!?
The poster said (loosely translated) from the Chinese words. "Attention: This block has someone stealing shoes. She took mine and left hers (the one pasted on the wall) "

Thankfully, there wasn't any fine to posting bills on the wall of the HBD void deck. Well, its a job well done to have her plastered the shoe there as evidence!

NB: Maybe I should also have posted this on STOMP!

A Week Of Roller Coaster Ride

The past week has been a emotional roller coaster ride for me. We had a massive fight. Being accused of something that I did not do or even aware of not only sent me up the roof but also broke my heart big time.
I tried to play it cool. Packed my things up and leave. I couldn't cry and didn't cry for the next 2 days. But when everything somehow settled in my head, tears rolled down without effort.
Bus rides were stained with tear drops, work got affected. I was literally just a hanger. No spirit. By Wednesday, I have concluded that we are definitely over and there isn't any chance of us getting back together. Not only did it worsen my mood, I was close to giving up on work and just sit and rot at home. I couldn't care less about what's happening around me. I wanted desperately to be alone and be quiet.
So yes, typical girl thing, cry and sleep. Binge eating and getting drunk. Not even close. I did cry crazy stupid but the eating and getting drunk part do not exist. Overwhelmed with physical tiredness and emotional strains. I just fall fast asleep as early as I can (beauty sleep??) NOT!
Instead I dream about him :( A repeating scence of us fighting and me leaving.
Sleeping early does not seem to make much difference does it? If I still have dreams? This is just so stupid! I think of myself as being the stupidest person whenever I get involved in a relationship. I do not know why, but loving someone wholeheartedly, supporting him and respecting his interest, is the best thing a partner can do isn't it? I supposed the romantic Leo isn't what most people are looking for.
Anyways, it is now a brand new week. We both reconciled and working on the relationship again. Honest truth - I miss him way too much to be apart from him. Though it has been a short 6 months together, its so comfortable being with him. Lazy days together are my favourite. The TV and him together on the couch, such a bliss.
Let's hope that this would be the last fight we would have for a long time to come. Fighting sure isn't fun at all. Puffy eyes never compliment any girl. =(
While we are only in the 2nd week of January, let's hope that the new year will bring in new hopes and superb results!

Fund Raising for Singapore Cancer Society

Fund Raising for charity has always been something close to my heart. I was lucky enough to be given an opportunity to take part in this meaningful exercise with Singapore Cancer Society.

Through this programme, I have learnt that Singaporeans are still generous in such bad economy situation. Reaching out to save cancer striken people especially of low income families is really heart warming.

Who would have thought that in Singapore alone, 13 people die from cancer every freaking day? That's like 1 death on an average of 2 hours. Alarming number isn't it?

|Hence, public education is very important. Through having volunteers and fund raisers sent out to streets or located venues to help raise awareness and raise funds to help the needy patients is not an easy task. Armed with just a smile and a sincere heart to help these group of people, any person who stops for them is a chance for the cancer patients to recover and live life.

Singapore Cancer Society not only require funds to help service the programmes of financial assistnace and welfare support. They also have part of their funds channel to cancer research, well its a known fact that there are still cancer viruses that still do not have any cure. Medical costs ain't cheap either. Therefore, Cancer Society really requires as much funds to be raised as possible.

So people, if you see any of the kind souls out there raising funds for Singapore Cancer Society. Please stop and give them a chance to share the information and it would of course be appreciated if you are able to lend a helping hand for these cancer striken people.

I know there are kind souls out there!

Photo Editing

I am not a believer for Photo editing as I always felt that pictures should be in its natural element.

So I have not really done much to any photos that I have taken. Until most recently, a friend of mine has done her photos up so crazily pretty with the edited photos.. I had to ask her where she got the programme or software from. ( Initially I wanted just to have watermark on the photos).
After browsing through the site.. I did some experimenting with photos that I have posted online recently.

I have put them together side by side for comparison.

The one on the left is taken without any editing done. The one on the right has borders added and text put in. I love it. It has got a magazine shoot feel to it. But the photo in its original element is just simple. How some small technology twitch could make such a pretty transition! LOVES!!!

As for this picture, I did not do much to it. A focal B/W could do such artistic change!! I *hearts* photo editing!!!

My New Year Resolution #2 - To edit photos (minimal) before I post them on the blog!

New Year Resolution #1 - To reduce my salt intake

Happy New Year lovely earthlings!!

Christmas Present

Welcome to the Year 2010!! Yippee!!

So the boyfriend came back from Germany. Checked flight arrival to be at 1630hrs at Terminal 2. When I arrived at the airport at 1605hrs, I thought I have time don't I. Looked at the Arrival Schedules - flight landed at 1547hrs. Super FML.

Then checked on the email he sent, it did say 1603hrs from Munich. DAMN aeroplane flew too fast, landed earlier than expected. Thought to myself, he could or would:

1) Left the Airport and gone home. ( I tried his mobile BUT not turned on - PANIC..)
2) Still shopping in DFS.
3) Didn't board the flight at all.

BUT =) He was there when I walked to the arrival hall!!!! HAHAHAHAH...

He waited for 10 minutes and he thought that I would not turn up at all. LOL.

Well went home and unpack. Then we had a little gift exchange (I didn't have a chance to take photo of the stuff I got for him because it was all wrapped up!!)

This is what he bought me =)

As how the BF translated it, this is called a beggers braclet. You buy the braclet and then add on the charms for different occasion. (Each charm cost on an average of 24 EUROS!!)

I like the braclet though its not something I would wear it often. I find that it gets into the way when you type on the keyboard half the time. =)

Still love it because it was bought with thought and there a heart shape charm - so girly! LOL.

Thank you for the present.
